Secretary of State Adams removed from lawsuit regarding precincts

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams has been removed from a lawsuit filed by voters demanding more than one precinct on primary election day in several counties.

Those counties included Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, Boone and Campbell.

In a statement Monday morning the secretary of state says the plaintiffs have noted that Secretary Adams has opposed, but by law does not control, these counties’ decisions to each have only one voting location.

Secretary Adams has publicly and privately encouraged these counties to reach a settlement with the plaintiffs and, if possible at this late date, offer additional voting locations.

Many Kentucky counties will only have one open precinct June 23 and are encouraging voters to cast their ballot absentee to avoid spreading the coronavirus.
