KSP restores order at McCracken Co. Juvenile Detention Center

Kentucky State Police was called to restore order Saturday night at the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.

The facility houses juveniles from across western Kentucky accused of committing criminal offenses and troopers were called to that location about 6:15 p.m. after several juveniles stole the keys from a guard.

They allegedly gained access to a pair of pod cells and were destroying property, according to a news release.

After failed negotiations between staff and juveniles, the Department of Juvenile Justice contacted KSP to intervene.

Shortly after their arrival, state troopers were able to restore order without the use of physical force.

All juveniles voluntarily re-entered their cells and the keys were retrieved by detention center personnel. No one was injured in the incident.
