Gail Griffey, longtime WNKJ host, dies

Longtime WNKJ Christian Radio host Gail Griffey died Saturday night following a long illness.

Her husband—former WHOP engineer and WNKJ employee Don Griffey—announced her passing on Facebook. He said Sunday would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

Listeners to WNKJ heard Gail Griffey most often as a weekend announcer, but she filled many roles over the years and helped host special programming such as the annual Care-a-thon fundraiser.

She is survived by three children, in addition to her husband, and was preceded in death by a son—former longtime WHOP employee Gary Griffey.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
