Logan County man flown to Skyline after accident

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Logan County that sent the driver to a Nashville hospital.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department investigated and determined 46-year old Joseph Matthew Woodard of Russellville had been headed north on Dennis Corinth Road when he went off the left shoulder of the pavement.

Woodard over-corrected, causing his pickup to cross the roadway and collide with an embankment, sending it airborne and into the yard of a home before finally coming to rest after striking two trees.

Woodard was treated by Logan County EMS and then flown by helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol and excessive speed are suspected as factors in the crash.
