Del Angel could enter plea to murder charge this week

A plea deal or a trial date will be established soon in the case of murder suspect Sergio Del Angel, who is accused in the 2017 fatal shooting of Kristofer Armstrong on Kenwood Drive.

A pre-trial conference was held Wednesday morning and attorney David Rye says he’ll meet with Del Angel Thursday morning to determine how to proceed.

Judge John Atkins said a plea could be entered Thursday or Friday and it would be done inside the courtroom with all parties present.

Del Angel rejected a deal in February after a hearing was called under the presumption he’d plead guilty.

He’s charged with first-degree murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
