Governor Andy Beshear announced 214 new cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth Monday and eight additional deaths.
That means there have been at least 10,046 total cases of the virus and 439 Kentuckians have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The state reported 131 new cases Sunday, when the governor did not issue a briefing.
A news release Monday identifies one of the eight victims as an 88-year old Logan County man.
At least 3,232 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
Dr. Steven Stack, public health commissioner for Kentucky, is quoted as saying: “We continue our efforts to expand testing, ramp up contact tracing and urge the public to practice social distancing and wear cloth face coverings to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
