Drive Up Prom Entrances event taking place May 23

Students in Christian County will have a chance to still get to have a prom experience, thanks to an event hosted by The James E. Bruce Convention Center in a partnership with local agencies.

The Drive Up Prom Entrances event will take place May 23 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bruce Convention Center. Thanks to the partnership with the WHOP Family of Stations, Chick-fil-A and Kustom Designs Photography, it will play live over the air on 98.7 FM and students will be able to take home pictures. Yvette Sellers says they wanted to give these students a moment to shine, since traditional proms have been canceled.

She says those students can dress up in their formal wear if they want, but it’s not required—photos will be one person at a time.

There will also be a car decorating contest, with judges picking the winner who will receive one year of free Chick-fil-A.

The event is limited to high school seniors from Christian County High, Hopkinsville High, University Heights Academy and Heritage Christian Academy and home schools, and is completely free. The entire event will be outdoors to comply with social distancing guidance and seniors should only ride in a vehicle with members of their own household.
