Chamber, CCHD discuss local business reopening

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce held a webinar with the Christian County Health Department Thursday morning about the procedures for businesses to reopen locally.

As the phased reopening of the economy gradually happens across the state, and with more local businesses getting back to work, there are guidelines those businesses as required to keep.  Christian County Public Health Director Kayla Bebout encouraged people to go online to healthyatwork.ky.gov and make sure they stay updated on those guidelines, which include providing proper PPE and developing an individual plan.

She clarified a common misconception, saying that having a face shield does not mean you don’t have to wear a mask.

Bebout asks businesses to enforce those health guidelines with customers as much as possible, but not if it puts workers in danger.

There is now a program that will refresh previously worn N95 masks, and Bebout says businesses can contact the health department for information on that.  The City of Hopkinsville has already laid out plans on their phased reopening, and Christian County government says many of their services will reopen Monday with plans in place.

Businesses such as funeral homes and retail are set to reopen on May 18, with restaurants opening at 33 percent capacity start May 22 and nail salons, hair salons, tattoo parlors, massage therapy and more opening back up on May 25.
