Marshawn Lynch says his agent has been in talks with the Seattle Seahawks about a potential return. The five-time Pro Bowl running back came out of retirement to rejoin the Seahawks last December and made one regular-season appearance and two in the playoffs, carrying 30 times for 67 yards and four touchdowns.

Veteran pass rusher Aaron Lynch signed a one-year contract with Jacksonville today, giving the Jaguars more depth at that spot. Lynch played 16 games for Chicago last year, totaling six tackles, two sacks and two passes defensed. Before his two seasons with the Bears, Lynch spent four years in San Francisco.

Running back Frank Gore has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Jets. Gore, who turns 37 next Thursday- is third on the NFL’s career rushing list with 15,269 yards.

Baseball

New Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo says he’s healthy and ready to play, if and when the 2020 season begins. Verdugo was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers as a part of the deal that sent Mookie Betts and David Price west and had a pre-existing spinal fracture, which has since healed during the hiatus caused by the coronavirus.

The new baseball season began in South Korea today with the crack of the bat and the sound of the ball smacking into the catcher’s mitt echoing around empty stadiums.

After a weeks-long delay because of the coronavirus pandemic, umpires wore protective masks and cheerleaders danced beneath rows of unoccupied seats as professional baseball got back on the field. The teams tried to create a festive atmosphere in the empty stadiums.

Golf

PGA Tour player Brooks Koepka said on the Dan Patrick Show today he will play the first event when the PGA Tour returns next month. Koepka says he’ll be at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, TX and will be ready to go. The event is scheduled to begin June 11th at Colonial Country Club.
