A man was flown to a Nashville hospital after falling off the tailgate of a moving truck on Russellville Road in Hopkinsville Saturday night.
It happened about 8:20 p.m. and Hopkinsville Police Officer Alan Vance says 65-year old Thomas Bernhardt of Hopkinsville was attempting to ride on the tailgate and fell off as the driver of the pickup turned from the parking lot of the Circle K gas station onto Russellville Road.
Bernhardt sustained a severe injury to the back of his head and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was stabilized and then flown by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
