There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Christian County, but the local health department continues to monitor the situation and is educating about how to hopefully avoid becoming ill.
Amanda Sweeney appeared on WHOP Thursday morning and advises any business or agency that fears there may have been an exposure to COVID-19 at their location to call the health department even before potential exposure is verified.
Anyone exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus should contact their primary care physician and let them know you are coming.
Sweeney advises residents to not take stock in social media rumors about potential infections, adding the Christian County Health Department will issue a statement to the community if and when there is a confirmed case.
The health department is working with local industries that have not shut down and Sweeney says many factories have instituted practices to better protect their employees.
As always, Sweeney says social distancing and good handwashing practices are the best way to avoid the spread of coronavirus, the flu and many other illnesses.
The Kentucky coronavirus website is kycovid19.ky.gov and the hotline is 1-800-722-5725.
