SEC/NCAA monitoring Covid-19 situation

The Lexington Herald Leader reports the Southeastern Conference is monitoring the Coronavirus situation in the Nashville area as the SEC tournament is set to begin Wednesday. Nashville has one confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reports the NCAA is considering using fewer sites for its upcoming tournaments due to concerns over Covid-19. Executives and medical experts are also considering other possibilities, including holding games without spectators and proceeding normally but with enhanced efforts to promote public health, such as hand sanitizer stations.

The men’s tournament is expected to be played in 14 cities, including Atlanta, the site of the national championship game scheduled for April 6. The women’s tournament, slated to conclude in New Orleans, is planned for even more cities.
