Second Lady Karen Pence—the wife of Vice President Mike Pence—made a stop in Fort Campbell Friday to speak with military spouses.
Pence traveled to Fort Campbell with the Secretary of Defense’s wife, Leah Esper, and spoke to crowd of military spouses about what efforts are being made to address the issues they’re facing concerning employment. In a speech streamed live by officials on Fort Campbell, she says the Trump administration has already made some moves that could help, including allowing spouses to keep their state of residency for business licenses.
She says there are career centers located right on Fort Campbell that will provide free counseling and assistance to those looking for employment.
Pence thanked all the service men and women for the sacrifices they make for the country—and to their spouses, who are right there alongside them.
In the fall of 2018, Pence launched an awareness campaign to promote and encourage military spouses. The Second Lady has since been traveling throughout the country and world, addressing, addressing those challenges.
