Woman arrested for credit card fraud, HPD investigating fake money report

An arrest warrant for felony credit card fraud was served against a Hopkinsville woman Friday and city police are investigating after counterfeit money was used at a local business.

The warrant against 33-year old Veronica Hartwell of Hopkinsville alleges she used a stolen debit card to obtain $510 from an ATM on New Year’s Eve. The owner of the card reported it stolen a few days later when he noticed the transaction and Hartwell was identified with video surveillance.

She is charged with felony fraudulent use of a credit card.

Meanwhile, someone used a fake $20 bill to purchase cigarettes and gas from the Circle K on Lafayette Road in Hopkinsville.

No suspects are named on that report.
