North Iris Drive home struck by gunfire

A home on north Iris Drive was struck multiple times by gunfire early Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville police were notified of shots fired in the 2700 block of Richard Street about 3:20 a.m., but did not make contact with any damage or activity, according to Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Tony Sierra, who says a woman at 205 North Iris called ECC when she arrived home about 45 minutes later and found new bullet holes in her home.

Two teenage males in the home reportedly told her that someone had come by and fired multiple rounds into the front of the house, but they hadn’t called police.

A 17-year old male sustained an abrasion to his shoulder, but was not seriously injured. Sgt. Sierra says it may have been from shrapnel.

The same home was struck by gunfire on the night of August 23, when vehicles in the area were also struck by gunfire.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information on the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 270-887-TIPS.
