Hopkinsville police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who confronted a woman at Walmart while impersonating a store employee Thursday night.
The black male wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, dark-colored jacket and a brown toboggan approached the woman and told her she needed to empty her pockets because he she was captured on video stealing merchandise.
When the woman said she wasn’t stealing, the man reportedly told her he was going to follow her to her car to make sure she didn’t steal.
That’s when the woman found an actual Walmart employee in uniform and explained the situation. She said she could smell alcohol on the suspect and knew he did not work for Walmart.
While police were on the way, Walmart personnel escorted the man out of the building and he left the area.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity should call HPD at 270-890-1300.
