The University of Evansville announced the firing of Coach Walter McCarty last night. McCarty had been suspended from his job for the past three weeks due to alleged misconduct. McCarty was in his second season at UE and led the Purple Aces to an upset of his alma mater-Kentucky-when the Wildcats were number one earlier this season.
Todd Lickliter has been named as permanent head coach moving forward. Lickliter had resigned as an assistant to McCarty after last season due to health issues following an accident according to the Evansville Courier and Press. Lickliter will be on the bench tonight when Evansville hosts Drake.
