Founder of The Wood Shed dies

A founder of The Wood Shed restaurant on West Seventh Street in Hopkinsville has died.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home for 85-year old Wilda Mathis of Hopkinsville, who died Wednesday morning at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Mathis worked for over 23 years at the International Shoe Factory before becoming a founding owner of The Wood Shed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Mathis. She’s survived by her two sons, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Wood Shed announced it would close Friday at 2 p.m. and reopen Monday.
