A Hopkinsville woman has been charged with assault after she allegedly struck a victim in the face with a bowl Wednesday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to a Lewis Street residence for reports of a disturbance.  Upon arrival, the victim informed police that they had been in an argument with 56-year old Brenda Reed of Hopkinsville when the victim laid down on a couch in the living room.

Reed then allegedly followed the victim and struck them in the face with a ceramic bowl, causing injuries to the face.  There were reportedly still pieces of bowl where the victim had been laying, and Reed’s story did not match with the victim’s statement.  Reed allegedly struggled with officers when they went to take her into custody, and she was allegedly intoxicated at the time.

Reed was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
