First District Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Shea Nickell was formally sworn in during an investiture ceremony Wednesday in Frankfort.
Former Christian Fiscal Court magistrate and WHOP Sunday morning gospel music show host Kenneth Bates sang during the event hosted in the Supreme Court Courtroom on the second floor of the state Capitol.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice John Minton.
Nickell, who previously served western Kentucky for 13 years on the Court of Appeals, defeated Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County in November to fill the remainder of retired Justice Bill Cunningham’s term.
