Walmart DC kicks off Wreaths Across America weekend

The annual Wreaths Across America campaign is this weekend and it was kicked off Thursday morning at the Walmart Distribution Center in Hopkinsville.

Walmart is donating the services of about two dozen tractor-trailers to transport more than 120,000 wreaths to memorial ceremonies across the country, including the one Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.

The distribution center hosted a ceremony marking the loading of the wreaths onto trucks.

Col. Stephanie Barton is the commander of the 101st Sustainment Brigade at Fort Campbell and thanked Walmart for its commitment to Wreaths Across America.

She says the annual ceremonies couldn’t happen without the assistance of 44 Walmart distribution centers across the country.

The balsam fir memorial wreaths are placed at the final resting places of veterans each Christmas season through the initiative.
