Beshear makes Cabinet Secretary appointments leading up to inauguration

Governor-Elect Andy Beshear, who is officially sworn in as Governor on Tuesday, has continued to making cabinet secretary appointments, including for the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.

Beshear has named former Supreme Court Justice Mary Noble to serve as Justice Secretary, which ends the appointment of John Tilley to that position.  Tilley, who once served as State Representative in Christian County, was appointed as Justice Secretary in 2015 by Governor Matt Bevin.  During his appointment, Tilley worked to address the opiates crisis, disproportionate minority contact and over-crowding in both county jails and state prisons.

In other appointments, former U.S. attorney Kerry Harvey will serve as Public Protection Secretary, Larry Roberts will serve as Labor Cabinet Secretary and Rebecca Goodman will be the Energy and Environment Secretary.

Gerina Whethers will be the Personnel Secretary, Eric Friedlander will serve as Secretary to Health and Family Services and Larry Hayes will be interim Economic Development Secretary. Jonathan Smith will serve as deputy chief of staff, Ruth Day as Commissioner of Office of Technology and LaShana Harris to be the Juvenile Justice Commissioner.
