Truck driver killed in I-24 crash in Montgomery County

Additional details have been released on a fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer on I-24 in Montgomery County from Saturday night.

A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol says 32-year old Noor Shakul of Minnesota was eastbound near the 8 mile-marker when his tractor-trailer hauling frozen poultry went off the left side of the road.

He swerved to miss a guard rail, went down an embankment and traveled along a wood line before coming to rest facing northeast on an incline.

Shakul died from his injuries and his passenger—30-year old Ahmed Shuriye of Charlotte, North Carolina—was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

The eastbound lanes of I-24 were closed between the 8 and 11 mile-markers for about 12 hours while the scene was cleared.
