Local man arrested on robbery charge

Hopkinsville police arrested a local man for robbery and other felony charges following an incident Sunday afternoon on Velma Drive.

It happened about 3:45 p.m. when 24-year old James Browne of Hopkinsville allegedly took a gun from a woman, pointed it at her and then ran for about two miles, jumping fences and going through back yards of homes.

Hopkinsville police caught up to him on Sands Drive and he said he had lost the gun along his route. The firearm was recovered and Browne was arrested.

He’s charged with first-degree robbery, wanton endangerment and tampering with evidence.
