Complete Count Committee putting the word out about 2020 Census

The Christian County Complete Count Committee met Tuesday afternoon as preparations for the 2020 Census continue within the community.

The Census will take place in April of 2020 and the committee is intent to make sure more citizens are counted accurately than ever before.  U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Specialist Kisha Mische gave an update on what’s taking place with the Bureau, and says next week they will begin the recruitment process to hire as many as 537 locals to help with the census.

She says the next step happens in January and February, where census staff will begin counting specialized groups, such as the homeless population, college students living in dorms, Fort Campbell soldiers and more.

Mische also warns that if you don’t have a mailbox and your mail is delivered to a P.O. Box, you will not receive any census reminders or forms there—but all information, including the ability to take the census, is available online this year.

To gain that information, or to apply to a census position, go online to 2020census.gov. Census data impacts everyone to some degree, including how much federal grant funding a community receives, developing assistance programs, distributing medical research, decision making on all levels of government and much more. All data generated remains completely confidential and is used only for statistics purposes.
