Next Peveler court hearing to be in Marshall County, search warrant obtained for social media info

A pre-trial hearing will be held next month in Marshall County for Seth and Hannah Peveler and a search warrant was recently granted for additional information from Seth’s social media accounts.

Special Judge James Jameson ordered both to appear in his courtroom in Marshall County at 12:30 p.m. on September 12.

Seth Peveler is the former Hopkinsville High School band director accused of having multiple sexual encounters with students at his home and at the school in 2017 and 2018. He is charged with four counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

Hannah Peveler is his wife and is a former assistant commonwealth’s attorney accused of attempting to convince a witness to avoid testifying in an official court proceeding with intent to influence the outcome in the potential case. She is charged with three counts of tampering with a witness.

An affidavit for a search warrant was submitted earlier this month requesting all posts, messages and other actions made by Seth Peveler through Facebook and Instagram between December 31, 2015 and May 24, 2019—in addition to geolocation data that corresponds with those items.

A summary of the investigation on the affidavit includes some new information, including that Peveler’s alleged sexual relationship with one female victim lasted approximately 2 years—beginning when she was a junior at Hopkinsville High. She said that she and Peveler had discussed the nature of their relationship during online conversations on their phones.

She was also able to provide other specific details regarding items in the Peveler home that are material to the allegations.

Detective Eugene Trumble asserts in the affidavit that there were multiple posts from Peveler collaborating dates, times and locations that substantiated claims by the victim. Other individuals who are potential victims were also seen on Peveler’s social media posts, according to the document.

Police say Peveler began deleting posts from his social media during the investigation and an order of preservation was obtained on May 23 to prevent permanent loss of the information.

The search warrant was granted to HPD by Judge Jameson on August 13.
