A woman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for a stab wound to the neck and a man was charged with first-degree assault in Princeton early Tuesday morning.
According to release from the Princeton Police Department, officers responded to a residence on North Harrison Street around 2 a.m. for reports of a woman who had been cut. Upon arrival, contact was made with 58-year old Sandra Monroe of Princeton, who had a large laceration to her neck. She was reportedly able to tell officers that she and 55-year old Henry Cotton of Princeton had been in a verbal argument that escalated and he allegedly cut her with the knife. He also allegedly pointed a gun at her before fleeing the location.
Monroe was taken to the Caldwell County Emergency Room and later transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for what are thought to be non-life threatening injuries.
Cotton was located at the Stratton Inn and taken into custody around 3 a.m. He is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, theft by unlawful taking of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
