Trial delayed in Oak Grove double-murder case

Trial was delayed until June of next year for Jeremy Demar, the man accused in the shooting deaths of two Fort Campbell soldiers in 2017, following proceedings in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday morning.

Demar appeared with defense attorneys Clay Beineke and Audrey Woosnam, who requested the trial be delayed from the already set date in October. Woosnam says the defense is struggling to get a mental health expert to who was able to testify at a trial in October, thus the need for the continuance.

Circuit Judge John Atkins granted the delay, with trial now set for June 22 of 2020. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling made it clear that the Commonwealth will not be agreeable to another delay of this case.

When asked if he was interested in mediating the case to possibly come to a resolution, Boling said he was not.

Demar allegedly shot and killed his estranged wife, Priscilla East, and Christopher Hoch at a home on Arkansas Avenue in Oak Grove in February of 2017. He could face the death penalty, if convicted. He is charged with two counts of murder, first-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault and attempted murder.
