Hoppers win game 1 of OVL West Final over Paducah

The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Paducah Chiefs 10-4 in game one of the OVL West Division Final last night at Tiger Field.

The Hoppers fell behind 1-0 in the third inning before erupting for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 5-1. Paducah rallied to within 5-3 in the top of the fifth before the Hoppers scored a single run in the sixth and three in the seventh inning to get the victory.

Brant Husser also went 3-4 with Charlie Fischer going 2-2 before leaving the game with a leg injury suffered when he hit a double in the fourth inning. University Heights grad Drew McGowan pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five in getting the win.
