The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Paducah Chiefs 10-4 in game one of the OVL West Division Final last night at Tiger Field.
The Hoppers fell behind 1-0 in the third inning before erupting for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 5-1. Paducah rallied to within 5-3 in the top of the fifth before the Hoppers scored a single run in the sixth and three in the seventh inning to get the victory.

Brant Husser also went 3-4 with Charlie Fischer going 2-2 before leaving the game with a leg injury suffered when he hit a double in the fourth inning. University Heights grad Drew McGowan pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five in getting the win.
The Hoppers are now 28-13 while Paducah fell to 22-20. Game two of the series is tonight at Brooks Stadium at 6:30, with pregame coverage at 6:15 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.
