Details have been released on two accidents Monday morning on I-24 that injured a total of four people.
The first happened at 10:50 a.m. as 33-year old Michael Becker of St. Charles, Missouri attempted to merge from the left to the right lane to take the exit ramp onto Fort Campbell Boulevard.
He noticed another semi in the right lane and jerked his steering wheel, causing him to lose control. His rear-trailer collided with a westbound van driven by 43-year old Jimmy Eddins of South Carolina and with the other semi. Another automobile was also collected in the wreckage and the trailer came to rest on Eddin’s van.
A front passenger, 14-year old Brent Eddins of South Carolina, had to be extricated. He and two other passengers, 71-year old Jimmy Eddins and 18-year old Makenzie Eddins, were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. No one else involved required a trip to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the second accident happened a mile to the west five minutes later in backed up traffic.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Department report says 40-year old Matthew McCall of Oak Grove attempted to stop and slid in the heavy rain, striking the rear bumper of a pickup before sliding into the rear of a car. The chain reaction brought in six total vehicles.
A passenger in the pickup that was hit was already experiencing heart issues before the collision and was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
