The Christian County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Hopkinsville man Wednesday on charges of wanton endangerment after he alleged shot a dog in the face and fired a shot towards a woman.
According to the arrest warrant, on May 10 40-year old Jovan Perry of Hopkinsville allegedly shot the victim’s dog in the face with a pistol, causing serious injury to the animal. He then allegedly fired the gun towards the victim’s sister, who was sitting nearby in a vehicle in the direction of several residences.
Perry reportedly fled the area, dropping his cellphone—it was recovered at the scene along with a spent shell casing. Witnesses reportedly saw him flee the area from where the shots were fired.
Perry allegedly gave a statement to deputies admitting that he shot the dog. Veterinary care for the dog is in excess of $1,000. Perry is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief.
