Man charged with domestic assault, intimidating a participant in the legal process

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges of fleeing or evading police, domestic assault and intimidating a participant in the legal process after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Thursday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to a North Jessup residence for reports that a woman had been assaulted.  Upon arrival, 43-year old Dwight Jerome Die of Hopkinsville allegedly fled the scene and was taken into custody following a brief pursuit.  Investigation determined that Die reportedly broke a window on the residence to gain entry and once inside, allegedly physically assaulted his girlfriend.

She called police but Die then took her phone away, so she could not call for help.  Die allegedly told officers he was drunk and he had a strong odor of alcohol on his person.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, fourth-degree assault, intimidating a participant in the legal process and alcohol intoxication.
