The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, the Hopkinsville Sportsplex and the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau are partnering to expand the Book-A-Bike program.
According to a news release, the partnership will bring the bicycle renting program to the Visitor’s Bureau on East Ninth Street and the Sportsplex, located by the James E. Bruce Convention. The book-a-bike program is in its third year at HCCPL and was funded by the Indian Physician Alliance Community in an effort to provide bicycles as a resource for a healthier community.
The program provides bike rentals for $5 for riders with a library card and $10 for riders that do not have a library card. Bikes for all ages are available in three sizes for children, youth, and adults. Bike rentals also include helmets.
Public library Executive Director Deanna Sova says, “This partnership provides an excellent opportunity to expand our program within Hopkinsville, provide an inexpensive opportunity to increase the health of the community and to get people moving all across town.”
