Hopkinsville International Festival kicks off Friday

The Hopkinsville International Festival is taking place this weekend and the public is invited to attend and experience different cultures and countries for free.

The free to attend event has left the James E. Bruce Convention Center and will now take place in the Hopkinsville Sportsplex located right next door. Parks and Recreation Department Coordinator Toby Hudson says the new location will allow them to take advantage of the space and celebrate world games.

Idalia Luna with the City of Hopkinsville says this is a great opportunity to meet and learn about other cultures from across the word, many of which can be found right here in Christian County.

Hudson says they’ll have a slew of activities that day, including sports, dancing, performances, kid zones, the global village and more, along with a wide variety of food and merchandise vendors.

The doors open for the International Festival at 4 p.m. Friday and stay open until 8 p.m. The festival reopens to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday and will go until 6 p.m. that day. This will the tenth year that the city has put on the festival to celebrate the diversity found both locally and around the globe.
