Madisonville man arrested on multiple drug trafficking charges

The Madisonville-Hopkins County VICE-Narcotics Unit have arrested a Madisonville man on multiple counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and other charges following a months long investigation.

According to a news release, detectives with the narcotics unit, Kentucky State Police and the DEA began a joint investigation into a meth drug trafficking operation centered around 28-year old Ryan Robinson of Madisonville, who owns Robinson Properties, LCC, Snacktime Vending and L. Kay Investments.

Through investigation, detectives reportedly knew that Robinson would be returning to western Kentucky on Saturday with a large supply of meth. A traffic stop was conducted on his vehicle on the Western Kentucky Parkway near I-69 for speeding, and a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a pound of crystal meth, two ounces of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Following the traffic stop, officers conducted a search of Robinson’s residence on Beulah Road and allegedly discovered additional meth, cocaine, Ecstasy, marijuana and another handgun.

Robinson is charged with trafficking in meth, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robinson was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail and the driver of the vehicle, Mesha Smith, was also arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, trafficking in marijuana and speeding,
