Flu, strep, stomach bug close Todd County schools for rest of week

Todd County Schools are closed Thursday and Friday due to illness.

Those days will be non-traditional instruction days, meaning students should complete the next two days of work in their take-home packet.

Camille Dillingham with the central office says most of the illness reported by students and teachers has been strep throat, the flu and a stomach virus that’s making the rounds.

Attendance was at 90-percent across Todd County Schools Wednesday morning, but several students were going home throughout the day. Attendance had been just under 90 percent Monday and Tuesday and Dillingham said the district was having a hard time finding substitutes who could fill in for sick teachers.

Students are already out Monday for President’s Day and the Todd County School System will have the custodial staff cleaning schools thoroughly through the weekend.
