The Department of Defense has named the next commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell.
Major General Brian Winski was previously the chief legislative liaison for the Office of the Secretary of the Army in Washington, D.C., according to a news release. Prior to that, he was the deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
He served with the 101st from August of 2008 through July of 2009.
He replaces Major General Andrew Poppas, who has commanded the 101st since January of last year.
