Kentucky Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear has outlined his plan to challenge a federal court ruling that struck down the Affordable Care Act.
In a news conference Monday, Beshear says the ruling would “devastate Kentucky” by eliminating expanded Medicaid coverage and eliminating key benefits for people with pre-existing conditions.
Beshear says he’ll work to get a “stay” of the ruling until appeals can be heard.
Beshear is running for the Democratic nomination for governor next year, but says the challenge isn’t about that.
Governor Matt Bevin says Beshear’s action isn’t best for Kentucky and calls it a political move.
Attorney General Beshear claims the federal court ruling would affect over 1 million Kentuckians, if it’s allowed to stand.
