Guthrie man arrested after shots fired incident on Vine St.

A shots fired investigation on North Vine Street Saturday night led to the arrest of a Guthrie man on multiple charges.

The call of shots fired near 150 North Vine came in just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday and arriving officers found a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted and a passenger, 42-year old Michael Mimms of Guthrie, immediately opened the door and bent down low outside the vehicle.

A K9 alerted on the car and police say they located a McDonalds bag holding 14 individually wrapped baggies of marijuana directly under the vehicle.

Another passenger said Mimms threw the marijuana under the car as it came to a stop.

As Mimms and the driver were in the back of a police car, the dash cam captured a conversation where the driver reportedly told Mimms that he should have tossed the marijuana out a long time ago and that he had told Mimms not to shoot the gun. A report says four spent shell casings were located where a witness said the shots originated.

Mimms was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking in marijuana and tampering with evidence. No one was injured by the gunfire.
