A Hopkinsville woman was arrested for abandonment of a minor Thursday night after she allegedly dropped her daughter off at a residence where no one was home.
An arrest citation for 26-year old Alashawn Davis says ECC received a call after someone found a seven-year old girl crying outside the Pennyrile Apartments. Police say the girl was not dressed for the weather.
The child’s cousin soon arrived and told police she didn’t know the girl’s mother was dropping her off.
When Davis returned, she said she had gone to a friend’s house and that she thought she heard someone inside the residence at the Pennyrile Apartments before leaving.
The girl was not injured and Davis was jailed for abandonment, which is a felony.
