Man expected to be okay after accidental shooting

A man sustained non-life-threatening injuries in an accidental shooting Saturday afternoon at a home on Middle Street.

The man was attempting to make the barrel larger on his Hi-Point handgun, according to Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Tony Sierra, who says a round became lodged in the cylinder and the gun discharged as he tried to clear it.

The bullet went through his thigh and into his waistband and the man went to the Jennie Stuart emergency room by private vehicle. He was set to undergo surgery during the afternoon and was expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
