Rain and wind didn’t stop people from getting into the holiday spirit Saturday at the annual Christmas at the Bend.
Attendees filled the buildings that call Jeffers’ Bend Environmental Center home, with one dubbed “Santa’s Workshop”. There, kids were able to take pictures with Santa Claus himself, take part in nature games and create Christmas cards for area nursing home residents.
Organizer Diane Croney-Turner says they had a pretty good turnout in spite of the weather, and everyone who came had a good time.
She says the cards created at Christmas at the Bend will go to residents in local nursing homes, hopefully to bring some Christmas cheer to those who may need it.
All money raised goes back to benefit Jeffers’ Bend, whether with future projects or maintenance on the current park.
