A man wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested early Friday morning after a foot pursuit.
Hopkinsville Police spotted 29-year old Derrick Powell of Hopkinsville walking on the wrong side of the street at West Second and South O’Neal Avenue about 2 a.m. and he reportedly began reaching into his pockets when he saw officers.
He fled as an officer attempted to frisk him and was soon caught.
An arrest citation says a bag of synthetic marijuana was located a few feet away from where he was initially stopped.
Powell was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of synthetic marijuana, tampering with evidence and he was served with the warrant for contempt of court.
