HPD: Woman fired gun during dispute with neighbor

A Hopkinsville woman is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment following a Thanksgiving Day dispute with her neighbor.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, a dispute began between 71-year old Betty Lawless of Hopkinsville and her neighbor over loud music from the neighbor’s home. When the neighbor came over to Lawless’ residence to confront her, Lawless allegedly fired a “warning shot” from a revolver to keep the neighbor “from jumping her”.

Lawless was reportedly unable to describe any threatening behavior that her neighbor did to make her think that was a possibility. She was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
