Sen. Paul supports work requirements for able-bodied food stamp recipients

U.S. Senator Rand Paul believes a farm bill will make it to President Trump’s desk before the deadline, but he believes it should come with work requirements for able-bodied people who are receiving food stamp benefits.

He also supports restrictions that would prevent recipients from using food stamps to purchase some unhealthy foods and beverages.

In addition to including significant language and funding for entitlements, the farm bill this year includes provisions to remove industrial hemp from the federal list of controlled substances. Senator Paul says hemp has medicinal and practical uses and it’s time to remove any barriers from it becoming a major crop for farmers.

Senator Paul expects approval of a farm bill in some form this year.

We’ll air our entire interview with Senator Paul Sunday morning at about 9:15 on Lite Rock 98.7 following our interview with Governor Matt Bevin.
