Challengers claim two magistrate seats

Christian Fiscal Court will see some new faces come January as several incumbents were unseated following Tuesday’s election.

In District 7, Republican challenger Jerry Gilliam defeated incumbent David Collins by 324 votes. District 6 incumbent Jack Lackey was defeated by Phillip Peterson by only 2 votes, with a recanvas of votes a real possibility in that district.

Magistrate Mark Cansler was the only successful contested incumbent, defeating Republican George Barnett in District 3 by only 75 votes.

In the races for Christian County constables, Patricia Gresham defeated Glenn Rickard in District 2 and Joshua Gydesen defeated Christopher Wilson in District 3.
