When you set your clocks back one hour with the end of daylight saving time before you go to bed Saturday night, it’s also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detector.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton says you might also consider installing a new smoke detector, if your current one is more than a decade old.
If you live in the city limits and need help installing or checking a smoke detector, Captain Pendleton says call the fire department and they will assist.
The time change is also a good time to change the battery in your weather radio to be sure you continue getting alerts during severe weather—even if there is a power outage.
