Pennyrile Electric is warning of a recent scam attempt where the perpetrator went to the home of the would-be-victim.
A post on the cooperative’s Facebook page says someone went to the door of a Pennyrile member and said the person owed $75 and needed to pay to keep their lights on.
Officials say Pennyrile Electric does not collect money in the field. They urge members to call Pennyrile Electric at 270-886-2555 if they are ever approached regarding their bill.
