Two charged with trafficking in marijuana

A traffic stop on Broad Street Sunday night led to two passengers being charged with marijuana trafficking.

There was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle on Broad Street and 23-year old Jorge Zalpa of Hopkinsville admitted to smoking earlier, according to a report.

A search of his person allegedly revealed marijuana in his pocket and numerous bags of marijuana were found in a backpack belonging to his fiancé, Zalpa’s fiancée, 21-year old Mariah Solis of Hopkinsville.

Zalpa said the marijuana in the backpack was his, but couldn’t say how many bags there were inside.

Solis and Zalpa were both charged with trafficking in marijuana.
