Kentucky Commissioner of Education Dr. Wayne Lewis toured Gateway Academy to Innovation and Technology with Christian County Schools Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill and principal Penny Knight Tuesday.
A news release from the school system Dr. Lewis was joined by state Senator Whitney Westerfield and state Representative Walker Thomas.
Gateway ambassadors Calvin Demps and Braden Howell guided the tour that showcased the academy’s Problem Based Learning projects, the mobile Science Technology Engineering and Math lab, apprenticeship participants, and the VEX Robotics program.
Dr. Lewis is quoted as saying, “I met and talked with students and staff and observed high levels of student engagement. The district and Gateway have clearly made student readiness for high wage, high demand careers a priority.”
